The first WSOP party was held last night in the Full Tilt Lounge. Even suite-er than last year with their white leather couches, cabana plasma TV viewing areas, and extra large posters from the ad spread—the lounge exudes the kind of lifestyle that one wants to get accustomed to.
For the party, there were hot young babes in tight full tilt tees greeting us with a copy of the Maxim advertising segment, rumored to have cost FT a cool 1 Million. In the middle of the room there was a hosted bar and a hors d' oeuvres buffet. Near the bar was an impressive display of all the gold bracelets won by the Full Tilt team. Protected by two private security officers in suits, the multi-tiered display case was a visual walk through the history of the WSOP from Steve Z's 1995 Chinese Poker bracelet (an event that was only in existence for a few years), to Mark Vos's new gold still hot from his win the night before.
Clonie Gowen is considered by many to be the sexiest woman in poker, and I must say she's even hotter in the ad spread. Sure, her fit body is revealed in typical Maxim fashion, but it's her new golden tresses that is the most becoming on her. I asked her about the sportier change in hair styles and she said that they asked her to do it for the ad, and then asked her to keep it going for a while longer. On her WSOP blog, Clonie told us that she consulted with her mom and her sister before agreeing to do the ad.
Some of the pros and stars I saw at the party were John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Jen Harmon, Howard Lederer, Gavin Smith, John D'agostino, Doug Lee, and Evelyn Ng, to name a few.
But the most fun aspect of the party was the Full Tilt photo trick. They had a photographer there that would take your picture, and insert it into the lineup of Full Tilt pros standing in front of their House of Cards. Then they'd print you out a glossy print of it—too cool! Of course I did it,what would you expect? Between those, the bracelet display, and the free booze, what more could you want from a poker party? Full Tilt does it right.
